The 2018 UCLA Martial Arts Symposium aimed to increase awareness and understanding that martial arts is a valuable resource for becoming, staying and thriving as a healthy human being. The program strove to operate as an inclusive, diverse and equitable experience showing the opportunities for all to participate in martial arts.
- Goals -
1.
To educate​ ​participants on the diverse applications​ ​of martial arts in the modern world.
2.
To enlighten​ ​participants on the​ ​powerful​ ​effects​ ​various martial arts can have on individuals and groups with regards to resilience, leadership and understanding diverse cultures.
3.
To discuss​ ​and​ ​present​ research​ ​that incorporates martial arts as a means to understand the intricacies of how movement and mindfulness affect people’s health and wellness.
